MCLAC: Protecting Chiropractic in the Legal Arena
The historic merger of the MCA and MCS marked the
beginning of an era of unity and a stronger, more powerful organization of
committed doctors and patients. The Michigan Chiropractic Legal Action
Consortium (MCLAC) is the legal arm of the MAC. MCLAC funds efforts to
protect chiropractic in the legal arena, whether in the courts or in
administrative hearings before the Insurance Commissioner.
The MAC Board of Directors develops legal strategies
to continue the fight to end discrimination against chiropractic in all
forms and on all fronts. With the combined forces of the MAC, we have the
opportunity to fight even harder to end discrimination in all health
plans, push for improved access to chiropractic, and ensure fair
reimbursement for services rendered.
Since the merger, we have seen numerous victories in
this critical area, such as the Insurance Commissioner declaring BCBSM’s
Healthy Blue options unlawful and negotiations with Priority Health
resulting in some positive language for future Priority Health policies.
Priority Health entered into negotiations with the MAC after we filed a
discrimination complaint.
While these victories are extremely important, they
are just the first step. Some even bigger wins are on the horizon, but we
cannot be complacent. If we are to continue exploring every option in
ending discrimination against chiropractic in all health plans, we need a
fully financed legal arm.
Your monetary donations to MCLAC ensure that the MAC
remains steadfast in the face of insurance company discrimination.
