MAC Fall 2021 Convention & Exhibition Theme: The Voice of Chiropractic!

If you followed the MAC’s social media channels this year, you know that a member of the Michigan chiropractic family – Rachel Mac, the daughter of MAC member Dr. Scott McLeod – made it all the way to the finals on the NBC show The Voice! In her honor, the theme for the Fall 2021 Convention & Exhibition is “The Voice of Chiropractic!” Rachel will be singing for us at the Opening Session on Friday evening, celebrating her achievements on the show and the support Michigan chiropractors showed her throughout her run. Come and see a rising star with a Michigan chiropractic connection!

Continuing Education Considerations – Fall 2021 Convention & Exhibition

State of Michigan Required Courses: All the State of Michigan’s courses required for license renewal – one hour in ethics, one hour in sexual boundaries, one hour in pain and symptom management, two hours in the performance and ordering of tests (completed by attending a live, in-person program), and two hours in physical measures (completed by attending a live, in-person program) – are available. See course descriptions or this handy chart for the number of CEs available and which classes apply for each required course.

Live, In-Person Hours: For chiropractic license renewal, the State of Michigan requires that chiropractors obtain at least half – 15 hours – of their mandated 30 hours at “live, in-person” programs. If you are unsure of how many hours you currently have that qualify as “live, in-person” hours for your licensure period, especially in light of the potentially confusing guidelines instituted by the State of Michigan during the COVID-19 pandemic, contact the MAC at (517) 367-2225 or info@chiromi.com and we can assist you.

Human Trafficking: If you have not yet fulfilled the State of Michigan’s Human Trafficking requirement, the MAC has a free webinar that will satisfy it. Just click here for the MAC Human Trafficking webinar, which only takes about 10 minutes to complete. Reminder: This is a one-time requirement, not one that needs to be completed every licensure cycle.

Implicit Bias Training: You may have heard that the State of Michigan recently instituted a rule requiring that all health care professionals (except veterinarians) be trained on implicit bias to be licensed or to renew a license or registration in Michigan. Chiropractors will be required to complete two hours of implicit bias training during a licensee’s two-year licensure cycle. However, this requirement does not begin until June 1, 2022, and for every renewal cycle thereafter. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
